Filing for Divorce in Kansas
Attending the divorce hearing
When your divorce hearing date has arrived, bring to the divorce hearing:

the completed Decree of Divorce, signed by the Petitioner and Respondent.

If children are involved, bring:

a final Parenting Plan, signed by the Petitioner and Respondent.

You should already have completed and filed a Domestic Relations Affidavit and
-
a Child Support Worksheet.
Filing divorce documents
After the divorce hearing, you must do the followings:

After the Judge signs the Decree of Divorce, make three copies. Bring the original and copies to the Clerk of the District Court.

If children are involved, also make copies of the final Parenting Plan, signed by the Judge, and bring them and the original to the Clerk.

Also bring a Child Support Order Information sheet, which will be sent to the Kansas Payment Center.

Obtain a Certificate of Divorce from the Clerk. Fill out the Certificate and leave it with the Clerk.
Sending copies to the Respondent
Send a copy of the file-stamped Decree of Divorce to the Respondent and keep a copy for your records. If children are involved, send the Respondent a copy of the file-stamped final Parenting Plan.
